Season 1: Episode 3: Bay of Married Pigs
Carrie is invited to visit her friends, Patience and Peter, in the Hamptons. The couple is so cute and perfect that she claims, "If their house wasn't right on the beach, I'd have hated them." Hampton houseguests are always required to sing for their supper, she confesses, so Carrie shares highlights from her sexual encounters to pay for her stay. The next morning, however, the price of admission rises too high when she's confronted with Peter's peter. When the wife finds out, Carrie's sent packing, back to Manhattan.
Lunching with the gang, Carrie shares her story, provoking an energetic discussion about how married women fear single women. "The ones who don't fear you, pity you," Miranda stated. This "Secret Cold War" between married and single people becomes the topic for Carrie's next article. Later, while window shopping with Stanford, Carrie runs into another gay friend and his life partner. When they find out she's still single, the couple asks if Carrie would be willing to donate one of her eggs so they can have a child with a surrogate mother. "I had just experienced single-bashing for the new millennium," Carrie states. "I was no longer even considered a person, I was now an egg farm."
Meanwhile, the guys at Miranda's law firm think she's a lesbian, even going so far as to fix her up with another woman. Now that everyone thinks she's part of a couple, she decides to ride it out, taking advantage of her couple status to attend the company events she'd never been invited to before. Although she tries, she can't sustain the lie.
Carrie pursues her interview topic further, interviewing some married friends of hers. But the interview quickly turns into a fix-up with The Marrying Guy. They date briefly, but when she attends his housewarming party with her friends, she realizes that they're on different paths. Carrie hooks him up with Charlotte, who's The Marrying Gal, but the two eventually break up over China patterns.
Samantha isn't idle this episode, of course. After getting drunk at The Marrying Guy's party, she seduces Charlotte's young, Irish doorman. Then, she never calls him back.
